Below is an explanation as to what Bate Field REALLY is. It contains some questions you may be asking yourself or wanting to ask me about this website.
So if you don't want the fun and magic taken away from you, don't read...or do...I spent time writing this up.

What is Bate Field

Bate Field is an art project in the style of a street-wear brand. The way that the fictional clothes are designed and priced are intended to poke fun at expensive fashion for having outrageously expensive items for what they are (not saying my designs are bad or anything *wink wink*). I thought of this idea after making icons and graphics but had nowhere to place them as they looked too empty or bland for a canvas. I thought that the best way to present these designs were to apply them onto a more interesting and public manner in a jokey sort of manner.

What was the inspiration?

I have always been a fan of satirical material whether it's a TV show, film, art piece, or video game so I have always wanted to try it out myself. With the idea of a fashion brand that doesn't actually exist, I knew I had to make it seem as outrageous and confusing as possible. Fashion is already outrageous and confusing, so why not take the piss? As for the satirical nature, I love to make fun of a bunch off stuff going on in the media and even touching on...er...touchy subjects. My real inspiration came from when I was younger and read a book named 'Vordak: The Incomprehensible' where he had a real website that pretended to sell weapons and gear. The websites found in the Grand Theft Auto series also had a very satirical attitude towards them that I found amusing too. When combining these two ideas together, I settled with the place you're reading this on now. From start to where this site is now, I'd say I've created a nice little world on here. But hey, you be the judge.

That's the joke...

Can I buy anything from this site?

Short answer, no. If you claim to of bought anything from this website, you are a liar as it is physically impossible. Yes this website is built using an online store engine, however what you see is what there is. There are no actual products from this site that exist (excluding 5 items as of 8th January 2020). Even if you think you can send money to this site, you are wrong. Like I said, literally impossible no matter how hard you try. HOWEVER, there is a Redbubble store where you can purchase items that contain some designs from this site. Don't worry, they don't cost anywhere near £360 for a t-shirt! You can find the link for that at the bottom of this page.

How do you design these products if they aren't real?

Photoshop mate. As well as a bunch of other websites that include a designing engine. I simply search for custom [insert clothing item] and hope that the site has a way of editing my own images onto them. One site has a bunch of different clothes from real brands that I can edit. If you look closely at some items, you might find a Fruit of the Loom or Gildan tag which just adds to the irony of expensive clothes having the same feel of cheap ones.

Is this what you do for a living?

This is just a little hobby and side project I made to keep myself busy at weekends and after real work in the evenings. I am not profiting from this website (but if you did want to help out a bit, you could always buy something from my Redbubble, it shows me that people are interested in this project thanks......but you don't have to. I wont force it on you).

What does the future hold for this project?

Not a whole lot really, same shit different day to be honest. I doubt it would become a real clothing brand. Maybe one day, but probably not. Hopefully I can continue updating this website with new designs each month for a few more years. I'm always getting interested with new styles and items that I would love to design or add to.
